It’s been a week and i still haven’t officially gotten over last Monday Monday Monday’s manic concert by my favorite, and the most perfect pair of twins, Tegan and Sara. Post-concert withdrawals/depression can last as long as… whenever right? I was so overwhelmed with feelings even before and after the concert. Especially with the fact that i got to actually meet them even if it was for a super dee duper quick photo, hug and autograph. I became a fan of them when i randomly stumbled upon one of their songs on Youtube when i was 13 and instantly fell in love just after listening to one song. Forgot what song actually but i remembered that i downloaded them on this music downloading program called ‘ares’ back then.
The both of us were so damn hopeful about meeting the twins that we planned it a week in advanced! Haha.
The second that Tegan and Sara stepped foot to the stage, i saw people like jumping over their seats to rush to the front and i automatically did the same thing. Rule 1 of an indie rock concert: you do not sit at an indie rock concert. Just no. I was super close to Tegan’s side rather than Sara though. Fiona and her friends and Cass were at row G and could only jump a few seats in front so in a way i was standing by myself which was still cool.
The first four songs that they performed were from their latest album, Hearthrob but they played a diverse setlist with songs from their more older albums. One of the highlights of the night was definitely the Medley of their old songs!! Nineteen aaaaand Call It Off when the audience sang the first verse and chorus and also the look on Sara’s face when some of them sang her part of the song with her. :)
Better photos of Tegan cause i was closer to her side.
My faaaav photo that i took! So perfect.
I don’t have an exact favorite. Like i can’t pick which one i like best. I adore the both of them equally. They’re both lovable and adorable and witty and funny. Their interaction with the audience, Tegan’s selfies, their stories about their adventure in Singapore and Sara’s public promise to Singapore that they’ll come back in a year’s time were some of the other highlights of the night.
This is pretty much the first time that i attended a concert at the Esplanade Concert Hall cause i just don’t like the idea of sitting and what’s more, the tickets are expensive thanks to the seating arrangement. The closer you want to the stage, the higher the price of the ticket. But Tegan and Sara were exceptions. Every penny spent was worth it. Satisfied with the setlist cause they played a shitload of epic songs plus the medley and i totally had the time of my life singing along to each one of the songs that were so familiar to me. The night felt like it could last forever…
So eternally happy that i got to meet them after the show even if it was a super express and impromptu so-called meet and greet. Totally worth the wait. They were obviously tired but were sweet enough to meet us. There were about less than 20 of us thank God. Sometimes too many fans waiting for them at the hotel wouldn’t be that good.
i don’t usually buy merch but it’s Tegan and Sara so what the heck. Plus it’s only 35$! Usually, merch would cost like 45$ and more… Wore it to school the next day with pride. Haha. I wasn’t very pleased with the merch dude though. He seems as if he wasn’t interested in attending to the customers. Whatevz.
Before i end this post, here are a couple of videos which i managed to record during the show! Shaky cause it’s hard to stand still due to all the dancing. Tegan and Sara will always have a place in my heart… I look forward to their next show in Singapore already! :)
